Church Board

Our Church Board is appointed by our congregation. We gather together each month to continually
discern the leading of God's Spirit and to gain greater wisdom in promoting the unity and vitality of our church.

I grew up on a farm in southwestern Minnesota, attending one of the many local Mennonite churches. I attended Hesston College in KS for two years and then volunteered with Youth Encounter to drive around in a van with 5 other 18-21 year-olds for a year on the beautiful US east coast. It was during this adventure that I met an amazing woman who would one year later become my wife. Amber and I have three wonderful kids: Feven, Kairus, and Freya.

After graduating from the University of MN with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, I now work at General Mills creating custom food equipment.

Amber and I started coming to enCompass in 2009 after feeling a lack of connection at our previous church. People often talk about enCompass being full of genuine and sincere people. I have to admit, that is exactly what we first noticed and what kept us coming back. My prayer for enCompass is that people’s spirits can be refreshed and renewed from the hustle and bustle which often consumes the day to day.

I grew up in Owatonna, MN with my parents and sister. I knew as early as sixth grade that I was going to attend Bethel College (now University). During college I joined with two pastors in their start of a church plant in Lino Lakes. I took on the role as the church's youth pastor for 10 years. I also met and married Erik at that church. I ended my job as youth pastor to work for another youth organization until coming full-swing back to Bethel again. I started as an Admissions Counselor and now work as the Assistant Registrar for undergrad students. If you have students at Bethel, I'm the one who will award their degree! :)

When our previous church closed its doors, Erik and I spent a few years looking for a new church. While searching, our family grew as we welcomed our first son, Tryg. After Tryg's birth, I really felt the loss of not having a church family to share in the experience. In the spring of 2011, Erik, Tryg, and I started attending enCompass. I have enjoyed getting to know the families at enCompass as we have continued the growth of our family with our second son, Kale.

It is refreshing to be able to be real with other women and men who are just trying to do their best at work, at home, in parenting, in social settings, and in their spiritual lives. I enjoy the groups that enCompass has to offer and I hope that we can continue to expand beyond the Sunday morning experience in new and enriching ways.

An odd fact about me: I was born over a month and a half early. I kind of feel like God thought it would be funny that I would be born on the first day of winter, December 21. The truth is, I hate winter!

I grew up in northern Minnesota spending most of my free time out in the woods or playing music of various kinds with my friends and family. In high school, I became quite active in my church and developed a passion for listening to people’s stories and finding inspiration in them.

I attended the University of Northwestern in Saint Paul and graduated with Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Since graduating in 2017, I have been working as a social worker in the greater Twin Cities area; specifically, I work as a Program Coordinator at Restart Inc., where I and my coworkers teach independent living skills as well as advocate for those that we serve in various ways.

I married my husband, Jake, in January of 2018, and we live in the heart of Uptown in a cozy little apartment surrounded by my plants, his books, and my various musical instruments and vinyls.

I found Encompass Church during my second year of college and was immediately captivated by the down-to-earth people that I came to know quite quickly. I felt invited to participate and be myself and deeply dive into my faith as well as continue to develop my growing passion for people and their stories. I am humbled and honored to serve this church that Jake and I call “home.” Come talk to me; I think everyone has something of importance to bring to a conversation, and I’d love to get to know you.

I grew up in Minnesota with an older sister and two younger brothers, homeschooled until high school, at which point I attended Irondale High School. While there, I found a great appreciation for reading and writing, and I went to Bethel University for an English Literature and Writing degree. At the same time, I met incredible Christian men and women who still bless my life. My parents joined enCompass in 2008, bringing me along when they could, and by the time I had graduated college I knew I had found my church home. I currently work as a freelance writer for online websites.

I spend much of my free time writing and editing my own fiction -- I've published several short stories and am working on multiple book-length projects. My dream is to be a full-time author, and as I have grown as a Christian and a writer, my faith has come to inhabit my writing in greater strength and clarity.

I know I must trust God with a life I could not live on my own, and enCompass became a place to help me realize how unwavering He is against my fears and follies. I am thrilled to help enCompass grow, and to help the people who inhabit it.

I grew up on a farm in southeastern North Dakota with my twin sister and younger sister. Music soon became a passion for me, which sent me on my life’s path. I received a B.S. degree in music education, with a major in alto saxophone. My sax felt like an appendage of my body as I played it so much. But singing and piano was how the Lord used me most after I met Him my sophomore year in college. After college I traveled full-time with a Christian girl band for 7 years. What a great experience as this ministry took us all over the U.S. and Europe. Following those years, I was worship leader at Living Word Christian Center in Brooklyn Park for 7 years, Harbor Church in Hastings for 2 years, and 2 years at Grace Church Roseville.

My husband, Curt, and I started a non-profit called World Encounter. We trained and led short-term mission teams to India, Argentina, Africa, and Mexico. Today, World Encounter gives micro loans to women in Tanzania to start small businesses and work their way out of poverty.

I’ve also worked full-time as an administrative assistant at Boston Scientific for the past 7 years. In my free-time, I love to read and spend time with my sisters and golf with friends.

I find fulfillment being used by God in music and whatever other ways He sees fit. It’s a privilege to now be on the church board.

I grew up as a military kid moving around every few years. It was a fun, adventure-filled childhood and I'm grateful that I had the opportunity to experience new things regularly. I met my husband, Stan, in high school when both of our fathers were stationed at Bitburg Air Force Base, Germany. We were able to take our girls back to where we met a few years ago and it was such a cool thing to share with them!

I'm currently working as an Administrative Assistant at Four Seasons Elementary in St.Paul and enjoy being able to support students and families on their education journey. In my free time I love to play with color & design, organize, decorate, read, and hang out with people I love!

Our family found enCompass about 7 years ago when we were searching for a smaller church home. We instantly fell in love with the friendliness and authenticity we found here. It's such a blessing to be with people who love Jesus and desire to be their true selves-this is what makes enCompass a wonderful church home.
